Miriam received the Torah from Sinai
and transmitted it to the Daughters of Zelopheḥad,
and the Daughters of Zelopheḥad to Deborah,
and Deborah to Ruth,
and Ruth transmitted it to Beruriah.
They said three things:
Make your voice heard,
raise up many disciples
and interpret the Torah.

This presentation of the lineage of the Mesorah, from Miriam the prophet to Beruriah the sage, parallels the well-known opening to the first chapter of Pirqei Avot (which only includes a patriarchal lineage). I hope there will be more maxims forthcoming. As my friend and teacher, Rabbi Yaakov Reef says: “Ethics of the Fathers is all well and good, but we won’t move forward until we study the Ethics of the Mothers.” –Aharon Varady

“מִרְיָם קִבְּלָה תּוֹרָה מִסִּינַי” by Rabbah Rinat Safania appears in תפילת האדם, סידור רפורמי ישראלי (2020), the Israeli Reform Movement siddur edited by Rabbi Alona Lisitsa (Ph.D.) and Rabbi Dr. Dalia Marx. English translation by Rabbi Lior Nevo. (Thank you all!)
